How to set up a good global illumination with finalRender stage 1
To Set up a scene with global illumination and a good quality in finalRender is
not too hard, but the fact is that neither it is too easy as VRay or another
render engine. For getting a good look we must follow next steps:
1.- Create a scene (not very complicated for see the final image soon) and aplly
it the standard material of MAX, but changing the diffuse color to a little more
bright grey.
2.- Next, create a light as you can see in the picture for getting a good
interesting shadows.

3.- We must set up the light with this parameters.

4.- Go to the "Render Scene" menu and in the "Current
Renderers" submenu select finalRender as your render engine for the
production.

5.- When we select it, new finalRender menus will appear. In the new "Global
options" submenu shange the Min. and Max. Samples to 1 and 16 for a good quality
in the antialiasing. This parameters are good for getting a good quality render.

6.- Go down through the menus and configure the "Global Illumination"
submenu as the next picture.

7.- Once all steps are done, we can render the scene. We must
see something similar to this (at least the illumination ;-)
